South Bend PNA Fishermen's Club, walleye fishing in
Dewart Lake should improve within the next couple of years.
The local fishing club stocked 1,500 6-inch walleyes into the 476-acre
lake near Milford, Ind., on Nov. 5 2003. The fish were purchased from a
Minnesota hatchery with proceeds from club tournaments and fund-raising
activities.
This marks the second time the PNA club has stocked walleyes in Dewart.
"It's a project we hope to continue as long as we've got the
money," said club president Tom Dockery. "We're planning a
more aggressive fund-raising program this year at the Lunker's
Extravaganza and hope to put fish in both an Indiana and Michigan lake
next year."
Dockery said the Dewart stocking complements similar stocking efforts
made by the Dewart Lake Association.
