About Us

The Michiana Walleye Association was founded in 1993 to enhance the St. Joseph River and its surrounding waters in northern Indiana.  We currently have over 200 members dedicated to walleye fishing, preservation, and conservation.  We belong to the Indiana Wildlife Federation, helping to protect our land, air, and waters.  MWA is non-profit organization, continually looking for members and sponsors who share our beliefs.  MWA also supports the DNR and its stocking program combined with the cooperation of the state of Michigan DNR.  Education of the youth and preservation of the future is our primary goal.  Monthly meetings are held the first Saturday of each month at 6:30pm on our public grounds.  All members and non-members are welcome to attend.

Our Mission

To Preserve And Protect The Waterways And Fish Therein.

To Provide A Future For Generations Yet To Come.

To Educate Those Generations So That This Tradition May Be Carried On

How can I benefit from joining the MWA?

First of all, when you join the MWA you'll become a part of a driving force that is working to improve upon one of our communities most precious resources. You'll gain satisfaction knowing that you are playing an integral part promoting the walleye fishery on our river and giving your children, grandchildren, and future generations the privilege of enjoying one of our country's fastest growing outdoor sports.

As a club member, our club grounds are available to you and your family for your enjoyment. To start off, we have woods filled with the wonders of nature that kids just love to explore. There's a stocked pond for your fishing enjoyment, basketball court, volleyball sand pit, horseshoe pits, picnic grounds, and outdoor modern restroom facilities. We have a modern clubhouse consisting of a meeting hall with occupancy for 110, a warming kitchen, and indoor restroom facilities. As a member, the clubhouse is available for your use at the cost of a donation to the club.

Annually the club sponsors several events for the membership. Events such as the kids easter egg hunt, the family picnic, and the Christmas party are free to members and, with continued success even more events will be scheduled.

Why am I important to the MWA?

All nonprofit organizations rely heavily on membership dues for the finacial well being of their club. We're no different. Your dues are critical to the ongoing financial needs of the MWA. However, you have something that is more important to us than your club dues, your talent. Your talents may help to maintain the club grounds, or maybe help to sponsor the kids fishing derby. Or, if your a take charge kind of person, maybe you can head up that all important fund raising project. Your talent may simply be your knowledge. If you have knowledge that can benifit the MWA we challenge you to share it with us so that we too can learn from your experiences.

Do you want to learn more about the MWA? Our general meetings are open to the public and are held the first Saturday of each month at 6:30pm at the club grounds. Please stop by......
